You are invited to the next meeting of the Herefordshire Conservative Business Forum at The Harewood End Inn on the A49 at Harewood End, HR2 8JT, when our speaker will be Professor Elena Rodriguez-Falcon, the newly appointed Chief Executive of Herefordshire’s future university NMiTE.
Before joining NMiTE, Elena held the role of Professor of Enterprise and Engineering Education at The University of Sheffield. Elena joined Sheffield in 2001 having worked in industry for seven years. She was the founder of University of Sheffield Enterprise (USE); Institutional Director of Learning Inclusive Learning and Teaching; Director of Enterprise Education and also the Faculty of Engineering's Director of Women in Engineering. Late 2014, Elena stepped down from these roles to take on the role of Director of Communications and External Relations for the University’s Faculty of Engineering, which she held until 2017.
Elena was awarded the status of Principal Fellow at the Higher Education Academy (PFHEA) in 2012 - one of the first ten in the UK. Elena’s innovative approaches to education have merited recognition by the Higher Education Academy, the Royal Academy of Engineering, and Enterprise Educators UK (EEUK) and as a Northern Champion by the Institute of Public Policy Research in 2012, to mention but a few.
In 2014 Elena was Highly Commended by the Princess Royal for her work promoting women in engineering. And in 2015, her Alma Mater, the Universidad Autonoma de Nuevo Leon in Mexico, awarded her Doctorate Honris Causa in recognition of her career in engineering education.
