You are invited to the next meeting of the Herefordshire Conservative Business Forum at the Harewood End Inn, when our speaker will be Sophie Carter, Senior Public Affairs Manager at Heathrow Airport Limited.
Sophie grew up in Spalding in Lincolnshire and went on to gain a BA in International Relations at Leeds University. She did a number of years as a presenter, researcher and promotor at the local “Tulip Radio” in her home county. She then worked as a researcher and office manager for 6 years at the House of Commons. She left Westminster to start a new career at Heathrow.
Sophie has been working with Heathrow since 2015 when the independent Airports Commission unanimously and unambiguously reported in favour of Heathrow for a third runway. Since that time, she and her colleagues have been working with Chambers of Commerce, Regional Airports, businesses and politicians across the country to ensure that UK communities are aware of the opportunities from Heathrow expansion; which the Airport’s Commission predicted to be up to £9.7 billion with up to 12, 000 new jobs for the West Midlands.
Heathrow is holding Business Summits across the UK where regional SMEs can meet with the main Tier 1 suppliers to forge connections locally, nationally and internationally. An estimated £93.7 million of deals have been secured as part of our Business Summits and Heathrow have announced that they will be holding their first ever Business Summit West Midlands in Autumn 2018.
