News from Jesse Norman MP

Roads funding

Following the Autumn Budget the Chancellor has allocated a further £420 million of new money for local highways maintenance.

This is great news for Herefordshire, which will receive £5,108,000 from the fund to go towards fixing potholes and local road maintenance. Jesse is pressing for a much more strategic and long-term approach to roads funding at the Spending Review next year.

Planting trees in Ross-on-Wye

Jesse was delighted to visit the Ross-on-Wye Community Garden to plant some trees donated by the Queen's Commonwealth Canopy and the Woodland Trust--plus a Liquidambar of his own. Massive thanks to Tim Shelley, to Haygrove and to the team of volunteers who perform such a wonderful role there for the community.

Hereford City Primary Care Hub

Jesse has thrown his support behind the new bid for a Primary Care Hub in the city. It could have a huge impact on healthcare in the county.

And finally...Jesse was promoted last week by the Prime Minister to Minister of State at the Department of Transport. As you can imagine, Jesse is thrilled and honoured.

Jesse's responsibilities will largely remain the same as before--mainly roads, road safety, freight and active travel--but he will be working to put even more energy behind them.
